Labouchere is sometimes known as the Split Martingale, or Cancellation System. The Labouchere System is one of the most famous of the roulette strategies you will come across online. It is only really found in roulette and involves crossing off and adding numbers to a list as the game is played out. While incredibly tricky to pull off in the land-based betting world, the Labouchere System proves ideal for players of online roulette. This is because a pen and paper can be used to keep tabs on bets and the count, away from the watchful eagle eyes of pit bosses.

A typical list will feature the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 written out in the middle of the paper. You can add as many numbers on the list as you want; that part is up to you.

Players should be warned about the length of their list. Your very first stake will be the sum of the first and final numbers on the list, so ensure that they are well within your balance before you bet. It is also worth noting that like many betting systems, the Labouchere System is only ideal for even money bets. In roulette terms, that means reds and blacks, odds or evens.

As mentioned, the first bet consists of the first and last numbers in your count. So, 1+5, which would equate to a $6 bet. The next bet they make would then be 2+4, yet another $6 bet.

Should a player lose, they add the amount that they have lost (the value of the original stake) at the end of the list, which would now have a 6 (for your losing $6 first bet) attached to it. Once again, the first and last two numbers are added together to create a wager. So, if you were you to lose your first bet, your second bet would be 1+6, which would be a $7 bet.
